Chester Handbooks raises £548 for charity Bridge Community Wellness Gardens

Independent magazine company Chester Handbooks is celebrating as it raises over £500 for Ellesmere Port charity Bridge Community Wellness Gardens.

The publisher, which delivers the free magazine to 31,000 homes and businesses across Chester and Ellesmere Port, is a huge supporter of the charity which started in 2015 and contributes to the local community in various ways.

The charity’s main purpose is to support those with mental health and learning difficulties and to create jobs for the long-term unemployed by growing and selling fruit, vegetables, salads and herbs to the local community. Former Atomic Kitten singer Natasha Hamilton and Giles Brandreth are also huge advocates of the charity.

The money raised by Chester Handbooks is gratefully received by the team and will go towards more equipment and supplies to help the wider community. It’ll also assist Bridge Wellness Gardens in growing the business.

Bridge Community Wellness Gardens Chair of Trustees, Ted Behan, said: “We’re incredibly grateful to receive this gift to start the New Year. It will go towards continuing the work we do within the community, with an aim of really making a difference to all those who come to us.”

David Layder, owner of Chester Handbooks, said: “I’m delighted we were able to contribute to the amazing work Bridge Community Wellness Gardens does, and we’re committed to helping the charity into 2022 in any way we can.

“It’s been a tough time for all businesses and we’re proud to support a cause that’s so close to us. We want to keeping supporting the brilliant work they do for the local community.”
