Don’t just take our word for it…
I have always believed that the louder you shout, the more people will hear you. However, shouting on a mountain top will not do you much good. I have found that placing a half page colour advertisement in your handbooks can get my message out loud and clear and is a great way to raise my profile. It also allows to me to target homes and businesses in certain areas, so I know I’m not on that mountain top.
The advert has a massive advantage over newspaper through artwork and photographs, which I can change at no extra charge so my advertising can evolve with the business.
After talking with David as to the best way to advertise in the Chester area, we decided to pay for a leaflet drop in Vicars Cross. After supplying Chester Handbooks with our leaflets they were promptly delivered to the agreed area. Within a few days of the leaflet drop we had an enquiry for a wet room. We would highly recommend Chester Handbooks and have supplied them with more leaflets for a drop in a different area.
Ruth & Cliff Hirst, Internal Affairs.
The first thing that impressed me was the level of service and advice on advertising and it was obvious straight away that David was drawing from a vast amount of experience. The second thing that impressed me was the price! This has turned out to be a remarkable investment advertising with Chester Handbooks. The return has been more than ten times within seven days. I would fully recommend David’s services and I can encourage you to take full advantage of his experience and advice.
Nick Gilliam, Arboreal
“Anne and the team at Chester Handbooks are super! Offering strategic advice on best placement and sizing for our advertisements with complete honesty which has certainly seen improvements in the source of enquiry we receive. Artwork that has been designed for us most recently has been absolutely fantastic and the team always strive to deliver a brand image we have in mind, complimentary with our current design and imagery.”
Darrell Missen, Leisure Club Manager, Mercure Chester Abbots Well Hotel
“We’ve used Chester Handbooks for advertising our business several times and had a great response, it definitely works! I have been advertising my business with David’s magazine for over 12 months and have recently added the Vicars Cross Voice. Both these magazines have proved to be a steady source of enquiries for my services. My customers say the magazines are a great way to find local businesses and services and the special features and community content are excellent. I would highly recommend advertising in David’s magazines to anyone whose target market is domestic customers.
AM Furnell, Edgeley Cleaning Services Limited
David Layder has helped my business in many ways, providing visibility to promote my business and bringing in new clients. I have been with David for over a year now and I won’t stop. A lot of people read the magazine and I see many of my clients keep them in case they need a service that the magazine can provide. I would like to personally thank David for giving me the opportunity to write articles for his magazine. If I didn’t have this opportunity my business would have found it hard to promote. I highly recommend David’s magazine if you are looking for ways to advertise your business.

We were thrilled with the response we had from our ad in last month’s Vicar’s Cross Handbook which helped bring an additional 19 people to our social drop-in (for the over 50s) at the Centurion pub.. its great to know we are really reaching people through a trusted source.

Dear Emily and Anne,
We’ve received our copy of the Vicars Cross Voice today. Thank you to Emily for creating my advert; it looks great. And thanks to Anne too and the rest of the team.

Chester Handbooks have been extremely supportive with us at The Diaz Academy of Performing Arts (The DAPA). We contacted Chester Handbooks in 2016 prior to opening The DAPA in September and have featured in several issues since. The Chester Handbooks team is extremely friendly and offer support in everything you need to help advertise and market your business from printing to designing. As a new business owner, I would recommend Chester Handbooks to anyone, they have made everything easy for us at The DAPA.
I will keep in touch as I would most definitely like to use the Handbooks again for marketing, you’ve been amazing.
Steven Diaz, The DAPA www.the-dapa.co.uk
Everyone at the Dojo is delighted with the layout of the advert and it’s simple message – we are all very pleased!
Mike O’Connor, Chief Club Instructor, Handbridge Shotokan Karate Club
I started advertising in the Huntington Handbook nearly 12 months ago when I took over Chester Chiropody and moved the business to Chester Road, Huntington (near the shops). The Handbook has worked really well in letting the community of Huntington know that I am now in the area, and resulted in an average of 2-3 new patients coming into the clinic per week. I would strongly recommend the handbook to any local business as it has worked really well for ours!

After speaking to Anne at Chester Handbooks we placed a full-page advert in the Upton, Vicars Cross and Huntington & Boughton editions delivered to 12,500 homes for the month of June. We were very pleased to receive approximately 12 inquiries which resulted in a number of jobs completed locally for our Home & Garden Maintenance & Repairs. Many thanks to all at Chester Handbooks.
David Irwin, Proprietor, Ward & Love
I rang Jon Southern from Southern Electrical to rebook his 1/4 page advert in the Huntington & Boughton edition of the handbooks. He has been advertising with us since October 2016 and I was delighted to hear – “I’m doing really well from the handbook, best of all the magazines I advertise in and get 2 or 3 jobs a month which is great. Go ahead and book me in for another 3 months please!”
Jon Southern, Southern Electrical
I have been using Chester Handbooks for advertising my business since I first set up in January 2016 and they have been really helpful and professional. Over the last year they have supported me with numerous leaflet drops to over 30,000 homes in the Chester area, as well as offering graphic design help with handbook advertisements, and keeping regular contact regarding repeat advertising and promotional offers. I continue to use their services as it is an effective way of getting my business known across the wider area, and showing the Chester and surrounding communities the services we can offer them. Over the last year, CoActive Physio has gone from strength to strength and I’m very thankful to Chester Handbooks for all their hard work and help!
Sarah Stewart, CoActive Physio
Just to say a big thank you for advertising our Christmas Bingo and Coffee Morning in November’s issue of the Handbook the advert is lovely nice and festive which is very much appreciated.
Jane Beasley, Great Boughton & Huntington Support Group for the Hospice of the Good Shepherd
Firstly, I’d like to thank you and all at Chester Handbooks for the support you’ve given me. As you know I run a Slimming World group in the Parade Enterprise Centre on a Tuesday. I moved to this new venue in January 2017 and with your support I’ve welcomed over 500 new Slimming World members during this year to date.
I will continue to advertise my group in the Mollington and Saughall Handbook during 2018. Please can I request a full page advert in the December 2017 edition and a quarter page advert in January and February 2018 editions.
From March 2018, I will continue to have a half page advert in the handbook.
Chris Sayers, Blacon Slimming World Group
I have always found Chester Handbooks a pleasure to deal with. From their efficiency to their outstanding market knowledge their results in attracting local clients are second to none. I heartily recommend them.
Mark Lampkin, Lampkin & Co Solicitors
Yes we will be keen to advertise again, just not at the moment. We had a great response to the last advert, but right now we are lacking volunteers to go into Ellesmere Port schools. We are OK for Chester volunteers. Thanks for checking in.
Viv Couche, Passion For Learning
Many, many thanks for including our (quarter page) poster on page 44 of the above edition. Your support is greatly appreciated by all involved and hopefully will encourage quite a few locals – apart from regular church-goers – to join in what is likely to be a fun-filled evening with the Farndon Brass Ensemble and Friends. Thank you once again.
Phil Mason – Secretary, Farndon & District Brass Band
Just letting you know, tickets arrived in time and as my dad had just celebrated his 70th Birthday and is a very keen gardener I gave both lots of tickets to him. My mum and dad attended both events and have let me know how they got on.
They had a really great afternoon, the Head Gardener and the tour were exceedingly good, finishing off with tea and cake made the afternoon.
Again had an enjoyable afternoon round the gardens – it had been quite a while since they last went. All in all, both events were enjoyable and insightful, plus with the beautiful weather on top of this, they were made up with the tickets. Many thanks and much appreciated
I have been very happy with the service that Chester Handbooks have provided in printing and an advert for the National Trust – Chester Centre. I have received several productive enquiries about the Centre, which has been brought to the attention of people who did not know about it previously.
Keep up the good work.
Carole Walker – (National Trust – Chester Centre)
So sorry for the delay in thanking you for giving me the opportunity to see this wonderful performance. The cast were amazing – with wonderful voices and very good acting! The set was well thought out as were the costumes – in fact the whole performance was a joy. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening. Perhaps you could pass on our thanks to Theatre Clwyd for offering such a great prize.
